F.A.Q
How do you store Ecofass drums?
Empty drums: Storage temperature between 0 and 25°C
Do not store empty drums under pressure; depressurize immediately on return.
Full drums: Storage temperature <25°C
Do not store drums in the sun or roll them.
How to store Ecofass bags
Pouches should be stored in their packaging in a clean, dry place
Pouch storage temperature: > 10°C
Can the bags be reused?
No, the bags are single-use
What are the pocket's functions?
The pouch is a multi-layer complex that offers several advantages. Its oxygen barrier allows :
– Longer, optimal storage of your wine
– Filling with compressed air
What’s more, the bag also protects the barrel, so there’s no need to clean it.
What types of wine are compatible with Ecofass?
Ecofass barrels can be filled with still or sparkling wines.
Do I need a special head to use Ecofass drums?
No, Ecofass is suitable for standard catering installations and works with “A” or “S” type filler heads.
What equipment is needed to fill Ecofass drums?
- A” or “S” type filling head
- A clamping bell
- A ratchet or torque wrench
- A pump (when filling still wine)
- A compressor
- Possibility of using a turner. Please consult us
Can the drums be filled right side up?
No, filling must take place in an inverted drum to ensure optimum bag deployment during filling.
See our user manual
Do I need a pump to fill the Ecofass drum?
Yes, when filling a still wine
How long does it take to fill an Ecofass drum?
The average filling time is between 2 min and 5 min.
Is it necessary to fill with back pressure? If so, in which cases?
Yes, whatever the type of wine, filling must be carried out with constant counter-pressure throughout.
We recommend a back pressure of 0.8 bar for a pressure of between 1.5 and 2 bar at the pump or isobarometric tank outlet.
Is it necessary to apply counter-pressure once the barrel is full? If so, in which cases?
Yes, whatever the type of wine, a back pressure of 2.5 bar must be applied once the bag is full.
How do you know if the barrel is full?
At the end of filling, the filling head pressure gauge drops to 0 bar. At this point, immediately cut off the wine/liquid inlet: the barrel is full.
- You can check the volume by weighing your keg.
Can Ecofass drums be filled on an existing drumming line?
Please consult your manufacturer.
Can a 20L bag be used in a 30L drum?
No, each drum must be used with the same size bag.
Each drum/pocket must not be underfilled.
How to depressurize a barrel
Always depressurize the barrel before unscrewing the nut to remove the bag:
- Break through the filling head*, open the air release valve and let the air out
- Open the wine/liquid inlet valve to also depressurize the inside of the bag
- Unscrew the nut safely
*If you use a filling head, remember to remove the non-return valve.
I can't depressurize my barrel. What should I do?
-
It is possible that the seals on the head of the pouch are stuck.
In this case, operate the filling head several times on the barrel head.
If depressurization is still not possible, inject a slight counter-pressure to loosen the gaskets, then open the air release valve and depressurize the barrel before safely loosening the nut.
- Reminder: do not store a barrel under pressure; the barrel must be depressurized as soon as it is returned to the estate.
Can I rack the drums with compressed air?
Yes, no special gas is needed to rack the wine.
The barrier bag prevents the gas from coming into contact with the wine.
Can a keg of wine be tapped from a beer dispenser?
Yes, the barrels fit standard CHR filling heads
Do I need to clean the inside of the barrel?
No, once the bag has been emptied, depressurize the drum and remove the bag.
What are the dimensions (mm) of the drums?
Diameter | Height | Weight | |
---|---|---|---|
10L | 310 | 358 | 6.2 kg |
20L | 310 | 508 | 5.2 kg |
25L | 310 | 582 | 5.8 kg |
30L | 310 | 662 | 6.2 kg |
Are the drums stackable?
Yes
How do you palletize drums?
Empty drums | Full* drums | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
Pallet 80x120x215 8 drums/row | Pallet 100x120x215 11 drums/row | Pallet 80×120 8 drums/row | Pallet 100×120 11 drums/row | |
10L | 40 | 55 | 24 | 33 |
20L | 32 | 44 | 16 | 22 |
25L | 24 | 33 | 16 | 22 |
30L | 24 | 33 | 16 | 22 |
*Possibility of stacking one pallet, maximum height two pallets of two rows of drums.
Are drums and bags recyclable?
Drums are 100% recyclable
Ladles are multi-layered complexes that are currently difficult to reprocess. They are classified as Solid Recoverable Fuels (SRF) and can be used to produce heat and/or electricity, reducing dependence on fossil fuels (gas, coal, oil) and the amount of waste sent to landfill.
A bag recycling solution is being studied with our partner.
What is the maximum barrel pressure?
Maximum operating pressure is 3 bar.
The drum is fitted with a safety valve set at 4 or 6 bar depending on the model.
Can we customize the barrels?
The 20L, 25L and 30L sizes are available in 3 different ring colors (yellow, black or red).
You can personalize the kegs with stickers, stencils and spray paint.
We can offer you a solution for screen-printing the ring. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
Are the drums and bags made in France?
Yes, 100% made in France.
How long does the barrel last?
Drum life is estimated at 10 years, based on 5 rotations per drum per year.
Reminder: Do not store an empty keg under pressure, for safety reasons and to ensure proper use of the keg. It is important to depressurize the barrel as soon as it is returned to the estate. See depressurization procedure in the user manual.
What is the barrel guarantee?
The barrel is guaranteed for 1 year.
The safety valve is leaking. What can I do?
The safety valve is a wearing part. It can be replaced.
Please contact us for valve replacement instructions.
